Content

Anyone with a Fandom account can add content to an article, provided that they are not blocked or the article is not locked for protection. The added content must not violate the policies in any form.

The content on the mainspace must pertain exclusively to the Kuroshitsuji series. Only the information presented by Yana Toboso, the creator, is considered accurate and factual. The content must be free of speculation, plagiarism, incoherence, headcanons, OCs, fanfiction, and fanart.

Images

Generally, every one or two substantial paragraphs should be paired with a relevant, high-quality image to better illustrate and explain the content. Images are uploaded via Special:Upload.

Images can and will be promptly deleted, no exceptions, if they are:

  • In violation of the policies
  • In violation of the Manual of Style
  • Inappropriate, offensive, explicit, or graphic, in any way
  • Unrelated to the Kuroshitsuji series
  • Unused or have no foreseeable use
  • Duplicates
  • Distorted or compromised*
  • Low-quality
  • Selfies or other personal photos
  • Fanart
  • An act of overwriting a proper image
  • Named inappropriately
  • In a format other than .png

Users who upload images that violate the policies or Manual of Style will either be warned or blocked, depending on the severity of the matter.

*Please note that a manga image with speech bubbles should have the text carefully erased. Other than that, the image should remain largely untouched.

Videos are discouraged on Kuroshitsuji Wiki to avoid any potential copyright infringement.

Uploading Images

These are the procedures on how to upload an image for usage on Kuroshitsuji Wiki.

  • Go to Special:Upload.
  • Give a proper file name prefixed by the chapter or episode number, or another source. Concisely describe the image in roughly one to three words. For example: File:Ch185 Lau.png.
  • In the Summary section, include a Licensing section and mark it as fair use. For example, if you are adding an image from the manga, write:
==Licensing==
{{fairuse|comic}}
  • Click "Upload File."
  • All newly uploaded images can be found at Special:NewFiles. Navigate to the file page of your image, and click "Add Category" at the bottom. Add the appropriate category. For example, if you are adding an image of the character Lau, add the category, "Images of Lau."

Adding Images

After your image is uploaded, you can add it to an article, provided that it is appropriate. You can copy, paste, and adjust the template below:

[[File:Ch184 Baldroy.png|thumb|left|150px|Baldroy acknowledges Ada.]]

Please note the parameters and adjust accordingly:

  • "File:" is required for the image to show and must not be removed.
  • ".png" is required for the image to show and must not be removed.
  • "Ch184 Baldroy" is the file name itself. If it is misspelled, the image will not show. Adjust the file name according to the image you are adding.
  • "thumb" is required for the image's caption to show. Captions are necessary to clarify the image.
  • "left" or "right" is required to properly align the image.
  • "150px" are the recommended dimensions for images on Kuroshitsuji Wiki.* If the image is too big, do "100px." If the image is too small, do "200px." Adjust in increments.
  • "Baldroy acknowledges Ada" is the image's caption and should contain a brief description to clarify the image. Adjust the caption according to the image you are adding.

*There is no need to specify the dimensions for images in infoboxes at the top of every article.

Deleting Images

Only the staff has the ability to delete images. If you encounter an image that violates the Manual of Style or policies, or if you wish to remove an accidental upload, please mark it for deletion by adding the Delete template to the image's file page, and the staff will handle it shortly:

{{delete}}

Categories

Every image must be sorted into relevant categories. View the list of categories at Special:Categories.

Image Galleries

Image Galleries are subpages that function as a compilation of all images related to the article in question. They are necessary for cataloguing purposes.

Image Galleries should be named "[Article]/Image Gallery." For example, Ciel Phantomhive is an article, and Ciel Phantomhive/Image Gallery is said article's Image Gallery.

In addition, Image Galleries should be broken down into sections that encompass, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manga
    • Volume covers
    • Volume bonuses
    • Chapter covers
    • Chapter appearances
  • Anime

To add an image to an Image Gallery, carry out these steps:

  • Add the tags
    <gallery>
    and
    </gallery>
, if they are not already present.
  • Between those tags, write the file name of the image. Exclude the prefix "File:" (e.g. Ch185 Baldroy is attacked.png).
  • Include a caption for the image by placing
    |
directly after the file name and writing a brief description. (e.g. Ch185 Baldroy is attacked.png|Baldroy is attacked.).

Categories

Every Image Gallery must be sorted into relevant categories. View the list of categories at Special:Categories. Generally, Image Galleries for characters will be sorted into the broad Category:Images.

Written Content

Below are elements pertaining to the written content on Kuroshitsuji Wiki.

Official Language

The content on Kuroshitsuji Wiki is expressed in American English, with the exception of quotes and in-text citations from the Yen Press translations, which are in British English and should be kept as such.

All edits and posts must be written in English, with the exception of romaji for names and titles.

Present Tense

The content on Kuroshitsuji Wiki should be written in present tense, particularly when summarizing plot details.

The exceptions are:

  • The History section, which should be written in past tense
  • Specific examples from the source material in the Personality section (e.g. "On one occasion, Blavat Sky was able to correctly determine . . ."), which should be written in past tense
  • Out-of-universe articles, such as Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus, which might require the usage of the past tense (e.g. "The season ended on . . . ")

In-universe Writing

With exception to out-of-universe articles, such as Kuroshitsuji, all articles must feature in-universe writing. The editor must adopt the perspective of the fictional world. Do not break the fourth wall by mentioning out-of-universe elements. For example, write "Later, Lau attends the party," instead of "In the next chapter, Lau is seen attending the party."

Out-of-universe elements and expressions that must be avoided encompass, but are not limited to, the following:

  • "In the manga . . ."
  • "In the anime . . ."
  • "In this chapter . . ."
  • "In this episode . . ."
  • "In Chapter 81 . . ."
  • "In Episode 10 . . ."
  • "In this scene, we see . . ."
  • "They are seen . . ."

Fanfiction and Fanart

Fanfiction and fanart are not allowed in the mainspace. Only share them in Discussions.

Grammar

Please proofread your work and ensure that there are no grammatical errors before publishing your edits. The content on Kuroshitsuji Wiki must be clear and coherent. Formal writing is favored, so avoid using contractions when possible. Use standard punctuation, and never write incomplete sentences.

Spelling

Yen Press's and FUNimation's spellings of names and titles are considered official. Do not deviate from their established spellings. When referring to characters in articles, do not use their nicknames.

Capitalization

Never use all capital letters for emphasis; where wording alone cannot provide the emphasis needed, use italics, but sparingly.

Examples of terms that should always be capitalized are:

Article Integrity and Objectivity

The content on Kuroshitsuji Wiki must always be written in an objective, impartial, and factual manner. References and citations to validate the content are mandatory. Subjective writing in any form is not allowed. Refrain from speculating, theorizing, and expressing or alluding to your personal tastes and opinions in articles. Do not arbitrarily remove the {{clear}} or {{-}} templates from an article, as doing so will cause the article's sections to run into one another.

References

Any piece of content published in articles must be supported by references, in order to prove the accuracy of the content in question.

Failure to provide references will result in the prompt removal of the content in question. To learn how to add a reference, carefully peruse this article. You can also copy, paste, and adjust the template below:

<ref>''Kuroshitsuji'' manga; Chapter 46, page 2</ref>

Canon vs. Non-canon

Only content created by Yana Toboso is regarded as canon; thus, the manga is the primary source for Kuroshitsuji Wiki's content and references. Guidebooks and official statements made by Toboso are also primary sources.

Derivative works, such as the anime, OVAs, musicals, live-action film, and video game, are not primary sources. The only exception is if Toboso incorporates certain aspects introduced by said derivative works into her manga. For example, Toboso has incorporated Paula, originally an anime-only character, into the manga.

Format

The primary format used on Kuroshitsuji Wiki is the standard paragraph format. Occasionally, lists and bullet points will be used, but they must not be excessively lengthy.

At the bottom of every article, there must be:

  • A References section, to compile all references*
  • A Navigation section, to streamline the browsing experience for the reader

*The only exception are chapters and episodes, which generally do not need references.

To better understand and emulate the layout of articles on Kuroshitsuji Wiki, view the Sample Character Article.

Characters

Every character's article should include the following sections, if applicable:

Appearance

The Appearance section details a character's appearance. It should give a general idea of what they look like, which includes their features (e.g. hairstyle and color) and clothes (e.g. typical attire and accessories). If not enough information is available, combine the Appearance section and the Personality section into a Character Outline section.

Personality

The Personality section details a character's personality, essential qualities, and overall characteristics, including likes and dislikes. If not enough information is available, combine the Appearance section and the Personality section into a Character Outline section.

History

The History section details a character's background and significant past experiences that took place before the present timeline.

Plot

The Plot Section details a character's actions and involvement in events that occurred in the manga, divided into separate arcs. The only exception are anime-only characters, whose Plot sections are based on the anime.

Quotes

The Quotes section lists via bullet points a character's notable statements, which provide insight into their personality, views, and opinions. It should not contain generic phrases that could have been spoken by anyone in the same situation. Use common sense to judge if the quotes are meaningful or negligible.

Quotes should be expressed in italics. Words spoken with emphasis are not italicized; instead, they are to be left in their original style. Terms of clarification, such as whom the quote was spoken to, should be placed in parentheses before the quote itself. You can also copy, paste, and adjust the template below:

* "''I stole jewelry. I took people's lives. I kept stealing and taking . . . to eat cold bread.''"<ref>''Kuroshitsuji'' manga; Chapter 162, page 21</ref>

Please keep in mind that the Yen Press translations are written in British English and should be kept as such for the Quotes section.

Trivia

The Trivia section lists via bullet points notable facts and pertinent observations about the article's subject that do not belong in any other section.

Unless the article is out-of-universe, such as Kuroshitsuji: Book of Circus, the Trivia section is the only section where out-of-universe writing is allowed. For example, you can point out a discrepancy between the manga's portrayal of a character and the anime's portrayal of said character. In that case, you may use out-of-universe expressions such as "in the manga" and "in the anime" to convey your message.

Avoid comparing a character to another character, especially if the latter character is part of an entirely different and unrelated series; that is considered subjective writing, which is not allowed.

Groups and Organizations

Articles for groups and organizations, such as Phantomhive and Aurora Society, should have:

  • An Overview section, to give a summary of their operations, characteristics, and qualities
  • A Known Members section, to list every identified member
  • A Trivia section, if applicable

Locations

Articles for locations, such as Weston College should have:

  • An Overview section, to give a summary of their operations, characteristics, and qualities
  • A Structure section, to give an account of the location's physical features
  • A Trivia section, if applicable

Page Logistics

Creating Pages

When creating a new page, please keep the following in mind:

Characters

Any character in the Kuroshitsuji universe may have their own page, as long as they are substantially involved in the storyline. That is the case even if they do not directly appear in the present timeline, such as Vincent Phantomhive. Please note that they cannot be a mere background character with no lines or interactions.

Groups, Organizations, and Locations

Any group, organization, or location may have its own page, as long as there is a considerable amount of information on it.

Chapters and Episodes

Every chapter and episode must have its own page. These pages should include:

  • A chapter or episode infobox
  • A summary of the plot
  • A Characters in Order of Appearance section, to list characters in the order that they appear in the chapter or episode

Only in this case are references not needed, as the page itself refers to a specific source.

Editing Pages

These are the procedures on how to edit Kuroshitsuji Wiki.

  • Click the "Edit" button on the page in question, which will take you to the edit page.
  • There are two modes: Visual Editor and Source Editor. Editing in Source Editor is highly recommended.
  • Make your contribution(s) to the page (e.g. add referenced information, add an image, correct a grammatical error, revise the syntax, etc.).
  • Preview your edit(s) to ensure that all looks proper.
  • Publish your edit(s).

For more information, navigate to Help:Editing.

Renaming Pages

Pages may not be renamed or moved without prior discussion on their respective Talk Pages and approval from the staff. Renaming a page requires tracking down and changing all the links, so it must not be done on a whim. If you rename a page without prior discussion and approval from the staff, your move will be undone. Repeat offenders will face consequences.

Deleting Pages

Only the staff has the ability to delete pages. If you encounter a page that violates the Manual of Style or policies, please mark it for deletion by adding the Delete template to the page, and the staff will handle it shortly:

{{delete}}

Protecting Pages

Only the staff has the ability to protect pages. By protecting the pages, the staff can prevent users from editing or renaming them for the purpose of curbing vandalism, edit-warring, and other destructive acts, and for maintaining the integrity of the content.

Certain pages, such as logos and style sheets, serve as the foundation for Kuroshitsuji Wiki, and are permanently protected.

Categories

Every article and page must be sorted into relevant categories. View the list of categories at Special:Categories.
